Jane & Robin's Tranquil Sanctuary

A garden pond attracting wildlife and creating beautiful sounds

"

PAUL AND THE TEAM WENT ABOVE & BEYOND

Project Brief

Jane & Robin wanted to create their own quintessential English garden. They had a new build and wanted to transform it into a sanctuary to relax. They had a broad plan for the space and needed someone they could trust to realise it.

Approach & Solution

Jane and Robin came to us with a plan, and we brought it to life by creating a detailed 3D model. Through several collaborative meetings, we refined the design while staying true to their original vision.

The final space features a tranquil pond to attract wildlife and the soothing sound of running water. We incorporated composite decking and porcelain paving to define inviting seating areas, making the garden more functional. For Jane’s love of gardening, we added a custom greenhouse and planters, along with new turf and a selection of plants, including a very special tree.

We can’t wait to see the garden flourish over time.

Impact

A stunning transformation, from a bland new build to a beautiful quintessential English garden, with multi-sensory input, gorgeous planting and zoned areas to blend functionality with form.

A wonderful result for a fantastic family, and we hope they enjoy the space for many years to come.

Jane & Robin's thoughts afterwards

"We wanted a garden that reflected the view beyond the garden and attract some of the wildlife into the space. I really enjoy gardening, growing fruit and vegetables and to see life thrive from your own endeavours.

However, our next door neighbours had their garden landscaped over the summer and I was in awe from an upstairs room as they laid the turf.

The finished garden looked as though it had come from a glossy ‘Home and Garden’ magazine.

Sadly, in November, our beloved daughter Bethany died suddenly. Through the shock and the trauma of the days that followed Beth’s death, we struggled with letting go of her.

We contacted Darren and Paul and explained in detail what we wanted and what the garden would mean to us.

We had just put Beth’s house on the market, in the back garden there was a very mature Japanese maple, we really hoped that it could be uprooted and become a focal point to our garden and be the guardian of her ashes.

The maple tree was uprooted with small spades and trowels so that the roots were not harmed, it continued to develop buds then leaves in early spring, I owe such a debt of thanks to the lovely team who made that happen.

When the day came for planting the ‘Guardian Maple’ and placing the ashes was very emotional, for us all. Paul and his team went above and beyond; Beth’s tree has its own light so we can see it at night.

I actually missed everyone from Wilson Paving & Landscaping when they left; they worked so hard and shared all steps of the construction with us so that we were included in the process. Nothing was too much trouble.

Their work and attitude is highly professional and they clearly are experts at what they do. In terms of what the garden means to us, we have our space to heal, our sanctuary and we are close to beautiful Beth, I talk to her as I work and potter.

But in addition she is included in the peace and tranquillity plus the social time with family, and friends.

I would highly recommend Wilson Paving and landscaping to anyone who is looking for an excellent high quality outcome on any outdoor design and landscaping work, or for that special space that requires empathy and understanding of their clients needs.”
